Metadata
Under metadata there are three subcategories with different kinds of schemas for metadata.
You edit the metadata on each file by clicking the Edit button.
The schema being edited is depending on which subcategory you have chosen.
Standard metadata: The ‘Standard metadata’ schema being used is Dublin Core Simple, an internationally renowned schema for metadata. It is presented as the Overview and More metadata, which can be collapsed if you don’t want to have a look at it.
Embedded metadata: There is also support for an extraction of embedded metadata from the files on upload. This information is technical metadata about the file and can be found under the Embedded metadata tab. Should you now want to see this, select the pane Embedded and open the list. The information cannot be edited.
Customized metadata: It is also possible to create your own customized metadata schemas. This can be set up in *Settings.* Have you created your schemas this can be selected and found under Custom metadata schemas. You need to choose Edit to find the right schema, select it and then choose save. Then you can click edit again if you want to edit information in the schema.
Import of metadata: piqlConnect also has support for importing data with existing metadata. Either you can use our Dublin Core XML or CSV support to import the metadata, or we can help you set up a customized schema first and then map it to your existing metadata. Ask us if you have questions.
Extract metadata: The magic button up in the right hand corner will create a description based on your thumbnail (based on the image) as well as creating a few suggested Subjects in the Subjects field. This is to help process of generating key words to make the search process easier. The subjects can be edited and updated to fit your use. It is also possible to select multiple files on a view list page and choose “AI Metadata” to do this process all at once to save time:
