piqlConnect has been set up that we can make it very easy to import and work with metadata. There are multiple ways to include metadata in your files to enrich your data.
- You can edit metadata yourself in each individual file or folder. This is done under the “Standard” metadata schema on each entity by clicking Edit.
- We extract technical metadata about most files upon upload - this will generate “Embedded metadata” that can be found under the “Embedded” metadata column on the file level.
- We use smart machine learning to “Extract Metadata” from thumbnail images to generate “Subjects” (keywords) and a thumbnail description.
This will efficiently suggest relevant keywords and description. You can edit the information to make it optimized.
- You can easily set up your own customised metadata schema under Settings and have it accessible under “Custom” metadata column on the file level. You need to select “Edit” choose the preferred schemas and a drow down will show for you to start edit information. Remember to save.

- We support import of metadata information with adjacent XML or CSV schemas upon upload of files. Our default schemas are Dublin Core XML or CSV, and by creating your own customized schemas we can help you map your existing metadata schemas with the one in piqlConnect. Thus, you can import any kind of metadata schema to piqlConnect.
If you want to learn more about metadata you can go to our in-depth article on Metadata and the schemas that we currently offer as default.
